Learn to Choose Differently

Our Offerings

At Walking Through Psychotherapy and Counseling Services, we offer individual therapy and group skill building guided by Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to adults 18 years of age and older. 

Individual Therapy

Therapists utilize appropriate evidence-based therapy techniques, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy principles, and other modalities that best fit the client's needs. Clients often want to know why they have the challenges in their lives and will be supported in exploring their life experiences and understand how the brain works in processing those experience to gain insight and create change.

 

Clients may choose to participate in additional group programming or only receive 1:1 support from a therapist.

Each client is provided with a 90-minute comprehensive assessment at the beginning of treatment, collaborative therapy goals, and review of progress every 90 days.

 

If needed, we will collaborate with your doctors, psychiatrist, other service providers, and other family members' therapists.

Therapy sessions are offered in-person or telehealth.

Skill Building Group

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based therapy that provides concrete skills to help individuals: regulate intense emotions, improve interpersonal relationships, tolerate distress, and practice mindfulness.

Clients often know what they need to change but don't know how to change. DBT skill building provides step-by-step guidance on how to change thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that cause distress or conflict.

 

Each skill set, mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness is taught in 4 week or 8 week courses with sessions held one time a week in-person.

DBT Programming

Walking Through is in the process of developing a full DBT Program that includes 1:1 therapy, skill building groups, coaching phone calls, and therapist consultation. At this time, our therapists are training to become certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy through the Portland DBT Institute which offers a route to become Linehan Board Certified in DBT. As our team builds, we will roll out our full DBT programming.
